The Edmondson Corridor neighborhoods are imbued with suburban flair. Its convenient location in Southwest Baltimore allows the neighborhoods easy access to greenery, interstates, and the heart of Downtown in a matter of a few minutes. Tucked below Leakin Park, the second largest woodland park in the United States, this historic neighborhood is adorned with the Gwnns Falls trail weaving throughout its streets. Not only do Edmondson Corridor residents enjoy local sights and amenities, but those interested in nationwide travel will appreciate the neighborhoods’ proximity to Baltimore-area interstates, including US Interstate 70 (connecting Maryland to Utah), I-695, and I-95 (connecting Florida to Maine).
The Edmondson Corridor of neighborhoods have historically been engaged and dedicated communities who welcome new neighbors and celebrate investment amongst their storied streets. Back in the 1850’s, they were established as a center for milling, small farms, and family estates, with developers later building rowhomes along the corridor’s neighborhoods in the early 1900’s. In 1947, the community saw the construction of the Edmondson Village Shopping Center, which serves as a neighborhood anchor for the surrounding area.
Nowadays, the Edmondson Corridor remains full of growing investment through projects such as the Red Line, a high-frequency, high-capacity transit line that runs East-West across Baltimore, and the redevelopment of the Edmonson Village Shopping Center. Neighborhood organizing in Edmondson has been reinvigorated as lifelong residents, religious institutions, and representatives from across the city engage with one another to capture the uniqueness and strength of the Corridor. The Edmonson Corridor neighborhoods’ affable energy continues to attract new residents, businesses, and development who see opportunity among the historically preserved rowhouses.
