Since 2014, Healthy Neighborhoods has received more than $5 million in grants from the Maryland Energy Administration (MEA) to make energy saving improvements to nonprofit-owned buildings serving low-income individuals. HNI was also awarded $5 million from the Baltimore Energy Initiative (BEI) for grants and loans to nonprofits and small businesses to make their buildings more energy efficient. Money saved on energy can be directed to their mission. HNI has completed 162 projects at public charter schools, community centers, senior centers, churches, homeless shelters and drug treatment centers.
