500 S Lehigh Beautification

In the fall of 2023, Krystal Dodd completed her beatification project on the 500 block of S Lehigh in Greektown along with her husband and neighbors. The project garnered the support of YouthWorkers based out of John Ruhrah Elementary/Middle School, who, along with their adult supervisors, assisted Krystal in weeding and picking up trash. At a later date, Dodd and a group of neighbors weeded the remaining tree pits, spread mulch, and planted a few flowers.

During the second phase of the project, the group planted flowering perennials, attractive ornamental cabbages, and pansies to beatify neighbor’s stoops just in time for the holiday season.

In addition to the ornamental plants, Marigold seeds were spread into each pot, which are bound to bloom as time passes. With the remaining grant funds, Krystal purchased ample cleanup supplies that will be utilized by her and her neighbors, keeping them well-equipped to maintain their block throughout 2024 and beyond.
